Saturday’s Listed Amelia Park-Belmont Guineas (1600m) was the first black type win for talented three-year-old filly, Luvnwar and jockey Pat Carbery doesn’t believe it will be her last.

Carbery is gladly accepting of his association with Luvnwar, guiding her to two wins and a second from her three starts in Perth after crossing from New Zealand.

Giving Carbery his second Belmont Guineas success in four years, Luvnwar was box-seating in third place and sprinted strongly inside the final 100m to chase down the leader.

Sent out a $4.40 chance with betting apps, Luvnwar, a daughter of War Decree, defeated the fast-finishing Petrouchka by 1 ¼ lengths with Cool Memory holding on for third after leading.

“She’s a big striding filly,” Carbery said.

“She makes her own luck and jumps really well.

“Once she got cover she settled well and didn’t over race.

“She’s still learning and I had to give her a couple of reminders, but she won well.

“She’s obviously got a bit of class and I think she has a fair amount of ability.

“She’s handling everything being put in front of her.

“She’s got a good future I think.”

Carbery says the Belmont Oaks (20000m) in two weeks is within Luvnwar’s grasp.

“I’ve always felt she’s got the action to be a horse that can run 2000,” Carbery said.

“I said that before she even raced.

“I thought the way she went to the line on Saturday, I don’t think the 2000m will be a concern.

“Thus far she’s comes through the run really well.

“She’s got the size and will furnish out.

“Hopefully, she can do what she’s been doing.”

Carbery won the 2021 Belmont Guineas on Sheza Chalmer.
