A big day in the Brisbane Carnival is always Doomben 10,000 Day

Saturday’s G1 Doomben 10,000 (1200m) shapes as a cracker of a race with established stars and obvious future ones as well clashing in the $1.5m contest.

Everest and All Aged winner Giga Kick ($1.80) heads north to Brisbane where he will clash with another promising 3yo Aft Cabin ($6), defending champ Mazu ($8) and another of the 4yos on the rise with Vilana ($15).

Other top races on the card are the G2 Spirit Of Boom Classic (1200m) for the 2yos where some excellent juveniles are entered. They include boom expensive youngster Kandinsky Abstract ($4.50), Breeders’ Plate winner Empire Of Japan ($6) and Dalrello winner Appin Girl ($8).

In the G3 Rough Habit Plate (2000m) for the 3yos on Classic trails, Kovalica ($1.80) will have plenty of admirers after returning in great fashion. A couple out of the Australian Derby now racing in Brisbane are Stroke Of Luck ($11) and Tapildoodledo ($15) while So Dazzling comes out of a top run in the Oaks.

There is also the G3 Chairmans Handicap (2000m) with stayers on Cups paths. Cepheus has been in good form while Auckland Cup winner Platinum Invador is over from NZ.

Other black type races on the card are the Listed Bright Shadow (1110m) for the fillies and mares and the Listed Members’ Handicap (1600m).
