Randwick will be again hosting two Group 1s this Saturday with a high quality day across nine individual black type races as we officially begin Autumn.
The Randwick Guineas (1600m) for the 3yos starts many of their quests to the Derby or, if milers, toward a race like the Doncaster.
Osipenko ($4.50 betr) was impressive late last time in the Hobartville and he tries to back that up against Aft Cabin ($3.50) who was favourite in that race. The Hobartville has provided the last ten winners of the Guineas. Others from that event given hopes here are Zou Tiger ($6), Matcha Latte ($7) and Brosnan ($26).
The second of the Group 1s is the Canterbury Stakes (1300m) where we get several form lines and age brackets coming together. The kiwi Imperatriz ($3.50) has been superb this prep with a dominant victory in the Waikato Sprint and she arrives now in Sydney.
Artorius ($3.50) is back from his international campaigning at the highest level, Converge ($15) and In The Congo ($8) are entered from the flying Tulloch Lodge team and Golden Mile ($6) provides the younger generation a representative.
Short course sprinters will fly in the G2 Challenge Stakes (1000m) and the return of The Everest winner Giga Kick ($2.90) is a feature. He is joined by the evergreen Eduardo ($5) plus winners at the highest level Paulele ($5) and Shelby Sixtysix ($26).
Often the best form reference for the Golden Slipper is running well on this program and there are two direct qualifying races.
The Reisling Stakes (1200m) for the fillies has some of those right up in Slipper betting engaged. Learning To Fly ($2), Kundalini ($4.50) and Platinum Jubilee ($5) could all stake a strong claim for the big one.
We’ll see the boys take on the Todman Stakes (1200m) and most of the main male hopes for Rosehill are entered. Cylinder ($5), King’s Gambit ($3.50) and Red Resistance ($2.30) will have plenty of eyeballs on them.
Other races of interest include the G3 Wenona Girl Quality (1200m) where The Invitation winner Promise Of Success ($8) is back and also another race for the females, the Aspiration Quality (1600m), has some nice mares including Roots ($2.80) ready to win.
