Coeur Volante lives up to reputation could be set for Coolmore Classic

The Mike Moroney and Glen Thompson stable have always held Coeur Volante in high esteem.

That regard was vindicated in the Group 3 Mannerism Stakes (1400m) when the now four-year-old blew away her rivals to record a four-length win.

Moroney said a long spell after a brief campaign in Brisbane during the winter had done wonders for Coeur Volante who returned to her devastating best.

“She’s a very classy filly. It was just a matter of getting her right,” Moroney said.

“We had her in the Tiara (in Brisbane) and I had the blinkers on her that day and then we scratched because we weren’t happy with her.

“She had a nice long break up there and it’s going to pay off. Her whole demeanour is starting to change now, she’s accepting racing.

“She went through a bit of a funny stage when she went off the boil. I think she’s back now.”

Moroney said Coeur Volante would be Sydney bound and aimed at the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill on March 15.

“We think she’s Group 1 class and she run a good race in the Thousand Guineas probably on pretty tired legs so I’m pretty sure that she’ll handle 1500 metres no problems,” Moroney said.
