Craig Williams to return on Easter Monday

Melbourne Cup winning jockey Craig Williams has been given the all-clear to resume race riding.

Williams announced on social media on Tuesday that he will make his return at the Sandown meeting on Easter Monday, April 10.

The jockey has been sidelined following a fall at Flemington on March 11 that left him with a broken collarbone and two broken ribs.

Williams’ mount Dubenenko was brought down when the Jamie Kah-ridden Flyball fell in the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m).

Kah recently returned home to continue her recovery from concussion.

“I’ve just got some really exciting news,” Williams posted on social media.

“I’ve just got my clearance to race ride this Monday at Sandown, which is Easter Monday.

“Can’t wait to be back on track.”

Williams has worked hard on his fitness ahead of his return with postings on social media showing him swimming and riding a mechanical horse.

Kah currently leads the Victorian Metropolitan Jockeys’ Premiership with 59 wins from Blake Shinn (41) and Williams in third place on 36 winners.
