After finishing last in a field of ten at Moonee Valley last start, Invincible Caviar put that disappointment behind her to score at Pakenham and notch her third win in five starts.

The wider spaces of the Pakenham and a patiently timed ride by Luke Nolen saw the four-year-old daughter of champion mare Black Caviar win the Furphy Refreshing Ale BM70 Handicap (1200m).

Lameness and the tighter Valley circuit contributed to Invincible Caviar’s undoing on November 11 where she was beaten by ten lengths.

“I think that might be the key to her, she’s such a big filly as you can see in the mounting yard but I think these wider, bigger tracks are going to suit her,” Peter Moody’s assistant trainer Katherine Coleman said.

“”It was definitely impressive and it was really nice to see her settle there.

“Then when she got that nice bit of clear air and finished it off strongly.”

Jockey Luke Nolen was positive but still reserved on what we can expect with such a famous bloodline.

“I still think she’s probably a work in progress, but what I was most pleased with today was the way she settled and how she rounded it off,” Nolen said.

“She’s sort of been a bull at a gate in her races so that’s encouraging going forward.

“I would say she’s still on a learning curve (mentally) but she had a good experience here today and that will hold her in good stead.”

Invincible Caviar ($6) scored by 1¾-lengths over the Lindsey Smith-trained Just Johnno ($10) and Airclash ($4.20 fav) ¾-lengths away in third.
