Magic Millions Classic and Guineas attract capacity fields

Fields and barriers have been finalised for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and Magic Millions 3YO Guineas on the Gold Coast this Saturday.

The lucrative two and three-year-old events have attracted capacity fields with the barrier draw conducted at Surfer’s Paradise on Tuesday morning.

Magic Millions 2YO Classic favourite Coolangatta has drawn barrier 13 with co-trainer Ciaron Maher pleased with the result.

“Very happy,” Maher said.

“There are three emergencies inside us so if they come out we come out of barrier 10. I was hoping for somewhere around the middle so this is ideal.

“Her work was very good this morning, JMac gave her three ticks and she seems in a really good spot.”

The Gimcrack and BJ McLachlan winner is a $1.85 favourite for the $2million feature with Russian Conquest a $7 second elect who will jump from barrier 4.

Russian Conquest spearheads a three-pronged attack for Peter and Paul Snowden along with Miss Hellfire (barrier 11) and third emergency Revolutionary Miss (barrier 8).

The Snowden stable is also well represented in the $2million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m).

3YO Guineas second favourite King Of Sparta has drawn barrier 13 for Nash Rawiller while stablemate Construct has come up with barrier 6.

The Robert & Luke Price-trained Jamaea holds favouritism for the 3YO Guineas and her chances were done no harm by the barrier draw with the filly coming up with gate 8.

“She’s settled in really well up here,” Luke Price said.

“We elected not to go to Doomben the other day and left it until the last minute with all of the rain and it was probably the right decision.

“The trial was really sharp on the Tuesday. She came through the trial really well, she’s done good over the weekend and had a good hitout this morning.

“I’m happy with what we’ve done with her and she’s going to run right to her best.”
