Miss Conteki looking to make it a winning hat trick at Ascot

Simon Miller says he can find no reason why his glamour mare Miss Conteki can’t extend her blistering form and make it a winning hat trick at Ascot on Saturday.

Miller’s already healthy opinion of Miss Conteki has shot through the roof and gone to another level after her past two blistering feature wins.

The five-year-old came from the clouds to win the Summer Scorcher (1000m) and in a repeat performance she won the Miss Andretti (1100m) a fortnight later.

Miller says Miss Conteki is holding her form and remains on track to claim her third straight Listed win in the Scenic Blast Stakes (1200m).

“All is well and she is fighting fit,” Miller told The Races WA.

“She is doing everything the same as her previous two runs.

“She had a good gallop on Tuesday morning and is going well.

“She certainly hasn’t gone backwards.”

Miss Conteki has drawn barrier 11 for Chris Parnham and holds Tabtouch favouritism, firming from $3 to $2.80.

Parnham, a winner of the race previously when aboard the Darren McAuliffe-trained Rebel King (2018).

Miss Conteki is clearly Miller’s top seed in the Scenic Blast Stakes, but he believes stable mate Amasenus can cause a surprise.

The five-year-old mare ended her last campaign on a high by winning the Bolton Sprint (1200) in July and completed two trials ahead of her return.

A winner in two of four first up attempt, Amasenus and jockey Pat Carbery combine from barrier two.

“She is going super and really good,” Miller said.

“She worked with Miss Conteki this morning (Tuesday) and worked alongside of her.

“That’s always a good sign and she has beaten her home before.

“She recovered really good and she’s on track.

“It wouldn’t surprise me at all if she got up, but it’s whether she needs the run.”

Amasenus is $15 in current Tabtouch markets, out from her opening quote of $10.
