Annabel Neasham and Rob Archibald are facing a challenging draw at Rosehill this weekend, with many of their runners drawing wide barriers. However, Archibald sees a potential advantage if the heavy rain predicted for Saturday arrives.
“We’ve got a lot of sticky gates. Hopefully, it pours, and they come down the outside,” Archibald said.
Seven of their 11 runners have drawn double-figure barriers or worse than midfield, including two of their three entries in the Baillieu (1400m). Tupakara, drawn in barrier six, brings solid form, having finished fourth behind Golden Slipper placegetter Tempted and winner Marhoona.
“She’s a nice, progressive filly, and this looks like a good race for her,” Archibald said.
Tupakara, by Trapeze Artist, is in her second preparation after placing in the Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) and Golden Gift (1100m) last year.
Next Jen, who won on debut at Newcastle, will start from barrier 11. I Am Overs may be saved for a midweek race after drawing the outside gate.
Archibald is considering the wet Sydney conditions when deciding where Rich Dottie will race next.
