Nominations in for Golden Slipper day

The biggest Group 1 day on the Australian Racing calendar arrives at Rosehill on the weekend as they run the Golden Slipper amongst some brilliant feature races.

That richest 2yo race on the planet sees the Golden Slipper (1200m) favouritism (pre-draw) sit with Godolphin’s Cylinder ($4) off his Silver Slipper and Todman Stakes wins.

He will have very stiff opposition coming from all areas including the unbeaten Learning To Fly ($5) looking to become just the fourth horse in 20 years to remain unbeaten out of the big race but the first filly.

The Snowden team, no stranger to big race Juvenile successes, have a couple of huge chances in King’s Gambit ($7) and Don Corleone ($15) ready to lift with more luck.

Another stable flying with their babies at present is the Waterhouse/Bott team and Red Resistance ($9) with Platinum Jubilee ($26) play a role too. All in all a cracking Slipper in 2023.

The George Ryder Stakes (1500m) will be pitting some of the best in the land against a gaggle of 3yos and overseas talent. It was decided that Anamoe ($1.70) would run here and not over longer and he will now be meeting the likes of Fangirl ($6) who is going so well without a win.

Added to them, the kiwi Levante ($15) arrives in town and the younger brigade of Communist ($15), Golden Mile ($11) and Osipenko ($8) will keep them honest.

And so the Ranvet Stakes (2000m) becomes a race of difference now with a real international flavour. Can William Haggas do it again as we saw last week? He’s won the Ranvet Stakes before with Addeybb and now has Dubai Honour ($4.50) entered.

But others from up north with international form are also engaged such as Gear Up ($26), Cleveland ($51) and Baron Samedi ($26).

To the sprinters and another feature awaits as The Galaxy (1100m) has a stellar line up. Will Lost And Running ($4.50) get his first major here or will Eduardo ($8) win the race for the second time.

Plenty of opposition comes from the newcomers to this company like Passive Aggressive ($4.50), Remarque ($11) and Shades Of Rose ($8).

Last of the G1s is the Rosehill Guineas (2000m) and the Derby types race for the big prize. Could Chris Waller win a major for the second straight week as Manzoice ($11) and Lindermann ($6) will have a big say. Pericles ($3.50) and Elliptical ($6) up from Melbourne will have a big say there.

There are also three Group 3 races as well with the Birthday Card Stakes for the girls, the Epona Stakes for the staying mares and the NE Manion Cup for the stayers.
