Nominations open for All-Star Mile

Nominations are open for Australia’s only ‘fan-voted’ and world’s richest mile race, the All-Star Mile.

Coming up for its fourth edition, the $5 million race reverts to Flemington and will run on March 19.

Nominations opened from Tuesday through until January 10 with a once off entry fee of $500 with the proceeds going to the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

A new clause this year is the provision of a late entry, until January 17, with a $2500 fee payable.

The late entry is designed to give connections of horses that raced at the Magic Millions Race Day or in New Zealand’s Group 1 Telegraph Handicap, on January 15, the opportunity to nominate.

The public will begin voting for their favourite from January 24 with the top 10 vote scorers to be announced by February 19.

There are two ‘win and you’re in’ races, the Group 1 Futurity Stakes and the Group 2 Blamey Stakes while the final three spots, selected by The All-Star Mile wildcard panel, will be announced on March 8.

The All-Star Mile is a truly national race with Tasmania’s Mystic Journey winning the inaugural running in 2019 before Regal Power won for Western Australia and then Mugatoo last year.

Greg Carpenter, RV’s Executive General Manager – Racing, said he was looking forward to seeing some high-profile names among the nominations for The All-Star Mile.

“The All-Star Mile is, and indeed always has been more than just a horse race, and the charity aspect is a very important component so we will again hope to raise significant funds for the Good Friday Appeal,” Carpenter said.

“We look forward to receiving some high-profile nominations in the coming weeks, as well as some of the lesser lights from Australasia’s smaller stables whose fairy-tale stories have captured the public’s imagination and contributed hugely to the success of the race.”
