Jockeys Peter Knuckey and Troy Turner have escaped serious injury after their heavy falls saw the running of the Group 2 Perth Cup (2400m) declared a ‘no-race’ at Ascot on Sunday.
Around 200 metres after the start, Knuckey aboard Chili Is Hot and Turner riding Dom To Shoot fell to the ground.
While the field continued the event was abandoned mid-race.
Medical Officers cleared the two jockeys of injuries while Dom To Shoot was found to have abrasions to the off-fore cannon area.
Chili Is Hot suffered fatal injuries and was euthanised on-course and stewards continue their inquiry into the cause of the incident.
The 2023 Perth Cup will be re-run on January 14.
