No Limitation has broken through for her maiden victory at Sandown, and her trainer, Clayton Douglas, is now considering a tilt at Stakes level in Adelaide.
The talented two-year-old made all the running in the Sportsbet Fast Form Handicap (1000m) on Wednesday, controlling the race from the front and holding on for a determined win.
With Luke Currie in the saddle, No Limitation edged out the race favorite, Facilitate ($2.45), by a short-half-head, while Petit Artiste finished just behind in third.
Douglas is now weighing up a run in the Dequetteville Stakes (1000m) at Morphettville Parks on April 5.
Before her maiden win, No Limitation had faced tougher opposition, including a respectable effort in the Chairman’s Stakes (Group 3), where she finished just under four lengths from the winner.
Douglas admitted he was relieved to see the filly break through.
“She tackled some good company at her first preparation and her last start here was really solid,” Douglas said.
“I thought Luke rated her really well out in front. She was probably needing the line late and with six weeks between runs, there should be nice improvement in her.
“It’s really good to get a winner for Barry and Midge Griffiths. They’ve been good supporters of the stable and they’re very famous colours.
“Barry purchased this filly himself, and we’ve got the sister at home, so I’m looking forward to success with the family.”
Douglas also explained why he opted to run at Sandown before heading to Adelaide.
“I sent her to the water-walker for a couple of weeks to freshen up after her last start and gave her a jump-out last week,” Douglas said.
“I was thinking about going straight to the race in Adelaide, but I thought she might need this run under the belt, and she needed it late.
“Barry loves his fillies with a bit of Black Type, so hopefully it was a good call to come here.”
