Jockey Kerrin Mcevoy has been hit with an untimely four-meeting suspension for careless riding aboard Coastwatch in the $1 million Bondi Stakes at Randwick.
Racing NSW stewards charged the hoop with shifting in aboard the three-year-old near the 1300m when not clear of other runners.
McEvoy pleaded guilty and after deliberating with his manager, has decided to start the suspension immediately.
He will miss the rich Victoria Derby day meeting at Flemington on Saturday, where he was in line for a number of strong rides.
However, the star hoop will be back in time to chase a fourth Melbourne Cup win aboard Grand Promenade, who is a $15 chance for the two-mile race on Tuesday week.
