Racing WA has announced a new broadcasting agreement with Racing.com, ensuring the 2025 edition of the $5 million Kia Quokka (1200m) will be shown live from Ascot Racecourse.
The high-stakes feature will be run on Saturday, 26 April 2025, and will be made available across Racing.com’s full suite of platforms. Coverage will include free-to-air Channels 68 and 78, Foxtel Channel 529, the Racing.com website and app, as well as streaming via 7plus and Kayo.
This new collaboration builds on Racing WA’s recent broadcasting push, which last year saw the launch of Racing WA TV and a streaming deal with the Seven Network covering all local race meetings via 7plus.
David Hunter, Racing WA’s Chief Racing Officer, believes the new broadcast deal enhances the profile of WA’s most lucrative race.
“The Quokka has quickly become a highlight on the national racing calendar and we’re thrilled to partner with Racing.com to showcase it to a broader audience,” he said.
“We’re also excited to showcase the running of this year’s Group 2 Karrakatta, our premier race for two years olds, earlier in the program ahead of The Quokka.
“Racing.com’s high-quality coverage and strong footprint will provide an ideal platform to promote WA racing – we’re confident this broadcast will captivate race fans across the country.”
As a key media hub for Australian racing, Racing.com is owned and operated by Racing Victoria and continues to expand its national reach.
Racing Victoria’s Executive General Manager of Media, Content and Marketing, Andy Hoad, welcomed the opportunity to showcase one of WA’s marquee events.
“We’re excited to showcase The Quokka meeting on Racing.com. It’s a race that has built great interest nationally in its short history,” he said.
“Punters in the east love WA racing, particularly on a Saturday night after Melbourne’s finished, so we expect great interest.
“It’s been a real pleasure working with the team at Racing WA and we look forwarding to building on this partnership into the future.”
