Godolphin’s Tom Kitten has claimed his first Group 1 victory in the All-Star Mile at Flemington after a determined run.
After struggling through his three-year-old autumn campaign, Tom Kitten rebounded strongly under the guidance of jockey Ben Melham, holding off the $2.70 favourite Mr Brightside by a short-half-head, with Light Infantry Man third.
Trainer James Cummings was confident in Tom Kitten’s preparation, noting the gelding’s improvement since his first-up third in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes. “He’s an incredible horse,” said Cummings.
Tom Kitten’s win marked an important milestone for the Godolphin stable, with Cummings’ praise highlighting the colt’s potential for bigger races in the coming months, including a possible run in the Australian Cup.
