Triple attack on the Mornington Guineas for Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young

Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young will saddle a trio of their large contingent of three-year-olds in the Mornington Guineas.

Blushing Tycoon,Zerelle and Commander Harry will line up in the $150,000 race over 1600m for three-year-olds on Saturday.

Blushing Tycoon only has the one win from 11 starts but did show promise in stakes company during the spring and resumed with a sixth-place finish over 1400m at Flemington on March 12.

“He was very good first-up,” Busuttin said.

“He came back as a gelding and raced very well first-up where he sat three deep, without cover, and I thought he was very tough.”

Busuttin is expecting Zerelle to appreciate the weaker company on Saturday after finishing last in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) on March 5.

But Busuttin warned Zerelle is a cause of frustration.

“He’s an in-and-out horse. He doesn’t try too hard in different instances,” Busuttin said.

“He wasn’t up to that class in the Australian Guineas, but once he got back in behind them, he just didn’t give anything.

“We’ve put a strong rider on him this time and he’s drawn well and will be bang up there on speed, if not leading, not far away.

“He’s got the ability to run well, but unfortunately, he’s not the most genuine horse.”

Commander Harry has had one run following a spell after contesting the Group 1 Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington in the spring.

At his only appearance this campaign, he finished behind Blushing Tycoon at Flemington, but it was a run that gave Busuttin heart for the future.

“He got back and didn’t really get clear air, but he’s drawn wide and will have to go back and whether Mornington is his track, I’m not sure,” Busuttin said.
