Adelaide Cup Tips, Bets and Race Preview – 2022

The Adelaide Cup is the major staying target of every stayer in South Australia, and indeed many interstate raiders each and every year.

Despite losing its Group 1 status, the Adelaide Cup field is always packed with talent, and Monday’s edition looms as a terrific betting race.

You can find my complete 2022 Adelaide Cup Tips below.

Adelaide Cup – Winner – No. 6 Tigertiger

I really liked the way that he worked through the line at Flemington last time, and I’ve got Tigertiger on top of my 2022 Adelaide Cup selections.

The Zed gelding was freshened after recording three-consecutive wins, including the Listed Bagot Handicap through summer, and he has improved for two back this time.

We know that the Zeds typically stay all day, and this bloke gets into the Adelaide Cup field well under Harry Coffey.

Adelaide Cup – 2nd – No. 5 Daqiansweet Junior

Daqiansweet Junior’s recent form ahs been outstanding, and the Adelaide Cup looks the perfect target for him as well.

The Sweet Orange gelding won four races in succession through summer, and he let down with a lovely turn of foot to finish second, albeit well beaten by Skelm in the Torney Night Cup last month.

He steps out this week in excellent condition and the booking of Jamie Kah certainly doesn’t hinder his chances of winning.

Adelaide Cup – 3rd – No. 1 Skelm

Speaking of Skelm, he too takes his place in the 2022 Adelaide Cup field, I’m just a little concerned about the weight, and I wonder if this was a little bit of an afterthought.

Regardless, the Animal Kingdom gelding has really wound back the clock this time in, returning some really nice performances in decent races, and recording some lovely wins.

He’s rock-hard fit and certainly has the class if he put it all together!

Adelaide Cup – 4th – No. 9 Eperdument

A leading local and last year’s runner-up, I think that Eperdument can have an impact again, and at a lovely price.

The Americain mare doesn’t win out of turn, but she also rarely races poorly, and she has improved with each start back this time.

She steps out on Monday rock-hard fit and following a nice effort for third in the Listed Lord Reims Stakes, and I think she’s up to the task again.
