Race 1: Listed Aus Childhood Foundation Plate (1000m) – 12:35pm
Tip: No Bet
Race 2: Listed Roy Higgins Quality (2600m) – 1:10pm
Tip: No. 2 Good Idea
Good Idea was racing really well before his last couple but I’m willing to forgive those two runs.
Fitness should not be an issue at this stage in his prep nor should the distance and he represents good value at around the $20 mark.
Race 3: Benchmark 90 Handicap (1200m) – 1:45pm
Tip: No. 9 Rose Quartz
Rose Quartz is a lightly raced and progressive type of horse who has three wins in her last four starts.
The five year old mare has won four of seven overall including a dominant 3.25 length win at this track and distance last start.
Race 4: Group 3 Tressady Stakes (1400m) – 2:20pm
Tip: No. 5 Annavisto
Annavisto has proven a consistent mare throughout her short career and has been unplaced just three times from 12 starts.
She has been very well placed thus far and this looks another very winnable race for her.
Her record first up is good and she is the one to beat.
Race 5: Inglis Sprint (1200m) – 3:00pm
Tip: No. 1 Overpass
A really competitive race down the famous straight six at Flemington this one.
Overpass caused an upset when he defeated Anamoe first up in the Group 2 Expressway Stakes at Rosehill and then ran second in the Southern Cross Stakes behind Lost And Running.
That form is good enough to win now he drops back to his own age group.
Race 6: Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) – 3:40pm
Tip: No. 1 Zaaki
Should connections decide to avoid the rain up north Zaaki looks a really good winning chance in the Blamey Stakes here at Flemington.
He is a top line race horse who has proven himself at the top level and he should be able to take care of this field.
Should he be scratched from this Mr Brightside would be my betting play.
Race 7: Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) – 4:20pm
Tip: No. 3 Profondo
The Group 1 Australian Guineas has attracted a quality field of three year old’s over the mile at Headquarters.
I, like many, have quite an opinion of Profondo who proved he was a quality individual by dominating in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes to close out his spring campaign.
This is short of his preferred distance but his class will take him a long way and he can target some much bigger races during the autumn up north.
Race 8: Listed Bob Hoysted Handicap (1000m) – 5:00pm
Tip: No. 8 Enthaar
Enthaar is a quality filly and although she takes on the older horses in this event, she is still very much a winning chance.
Her runs have been spaced throughout this prep and she had eight weeks in between runs when running fourth last start in the Listed W.J Adams Stakes at Caulfield.
She has three wins and a third from five runs over 1000m and she represents good value at her current quote.
Race 9: Benchmark 84 Handicap (1600m) – 5:35pm
Tip: Boxed Trifecta 1/6/10/12
You know the drill.
Let’s box them up in the last!
