Champagne Stakes Tips, Bets and Race Preview – 2022

Just six gallopers will step out in this year’s Champagne Stakes field and unsurprisingly, Fireburn has opened a clear favourite in betting.

The Rebel Dane filly was an outstanding winner of the Golden Slipper, and she backed up that performance with another comfortable triumph in the Inglis Sires’.

I’ve put her on top of my 2022 Champagne Stakes Tips, and she bids to become the first horse since Pierro to complete the two-year-old Triple Crown.

Suggested Bets

Champagne Stakes – Winner – No. 5 Fireburn

This is the weakest Group 1 race that she has contested to date, and assuming she sees out the mile, Fireburn will surely be crowned the 2022 Champagne Stakes winner.

I’ve been over almost all of her racing history in the intro, but she also won the Sweet Embrace Stakes back in February, and trainer Gary Portelli has this week said that she is working better than ever before.

That is a truly terrifying prospect for the other five stables engaged in this race.

Champagne Stakes – 2nd – No. 1 Let’srollthedice

I’m going to slot the Victorian raider Let’srollthedice into my Champagne Stakes quinella.

Let’srollthedic has made just three appearances at the races so far, but won his first two, including the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce, before filling the minors in the Inglis Sires’ last time.

He’s by Dundeel, so I’m expecting him to find his best at a mile and further, and he takes his place in this contest in peak order.

Champagne Stakes – 3rd – No. 6 She’s Extreme

Just behind Fireburn, She’s Extreme also gapped the rest of them in the Inglis Sires’ a fortnight ago, and she has opened our second favourite in Champagne Stakes betting.

The Extreme Choice filly has been excellent since debuting, and broke her maiden in the Magic Night Stakes before finishing midfield in the Slipper.

She too steps out this week at peak fitness, she relishes the heavy going, and she can fight out the finish again.

Champagne Stakes – 4th – No. 3 Counttheheadlights

Counttheheadlights returned an improved effort in the Inglis Sires’, and he completes my selections in the Champagne Stakes.

The I Am Invincible colt won on debut at The Valley in January and was an eye-catching fourth in the Blue Diamond Prelude for Colts & Geldings, but he was a little flat in the Neds Blue Diamond.

He’ll take improvement from his resuming effort here a fortnight ago, and he can be competitive.
