Futurity Stakes Tips, Bets and Race Preview – 2022

It’s one of three Group 1 features on Saturday’s program at Caulfield, and it has been won by some stars throughout its storied history.

The Futurity Stakes has drawn a typically smart field of gallopers in 2022, headlined by a few key All-Star Mile chances like I’m Thunderstruck and Tofane.

I’ve run the rule over each and every galloper, and you can find my complete 2022 Futurity Stakes Tips below.

Futurity Stakes – Winner – No. 1 I’m Thunderstruck

It certainly isn’t panic stations just yet, and he did keep his best work for late, but I thought that I’m Thunderstruck was a little underdone in the Neds C.F. Orr, and he’ll take wholesale improvement into the Futurity Stakes.

The Shocking gelding was nothing short of outstanding throughout 2021, and he won both the Toorak Handicap and The Golden Eagle most notably.

He certainly has the talent to win the Futurity Stakes and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him salute.

Futurity Stakes – 2nd – No. 3 Mo’unga

He hasn’t been seen at the races since November, but Mo’unga continues to go from strength to strength, and he can fight out the finish of the Futurity Stakes.

The Savabeel entire has always boasted ability, but it is fair to say that he has gone to another level under Annabel Neasham, and he broke through for his first Group 1 win in last autumn’s Rosehill Guineas.

He returned in the spring for an eye-catching performance and win in the Group 1 Winx Stakes and each of his proceeding runs were full of merit.

Futurity Stakes – 3rd – No. 4 Tofane

After taking out the Neds C.F. Orr Stakes when resuming, Tofane is now a four-time Group 1 winner, all over 1400m.

Her wins in the All Aged Stakes, along with the Stradbroke Handicap and the Tatt’s Tiara during the Brisbane Winter Carnival were built up when she took up the running, kicked clear here a fortnight ago and held on to win.

She’ll go forward again this weekend, I’m just not confident that she will enjoy as soft a run on pace this time.

Futurity Stakes – 4th – No. 6 Turaath

She has improved for two starts back this time, and I think that Turaath can and will run a cheeky race in the Futurity Stakes.

Turaath enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence in the spring, peaking with an impressive win in Group 2 company, but she needed her first-up run this time when fifth in the Group 3 Standish Handicap.

She kept on coming when third in the Group 2 Australia Stakes second-up, and getting out to 1400m at this point of her prep looks ideal.
