George Moore Stakes Day at Doomben Tips, Best Bets and Race Previews – 2021

The quality of racing north of the border kicks up another gear on 2021 George Moore Stakes Day.

Ten races, including two that were abandoned on the Gold Coast last weekend make up the program, and that means there are ten winners to be found.

I’ve run the rule over every contest, and you can find my complete 2021 George Moore Stakes Day Tips below.

Written By 1st Yearlings 2YO Handicap (1200m) – 1:03pm AEDT

Tip: No. 3 Fearless Knight

Fearless Knight will enjoy improvement into his second campaign start, and I think that he will break his maiden.

The Lonhro colt didn’t show a whole lot at the trials prior to debuting, but he mustered a nice turn of foot to fill the minors on the Sunshine Coast after racing greenly.

He is drawn ideally and can record his first win.

Thoroughbred Industry Careers Country Cups Challenge (1600m) – 1:38pm AEDT

Tip: No. 4 Doom

This race is wide open and there is a case to be made for several gallopers, including Doom.

Doom has been a model of consistency in this country throughout his prep, and recorded consecutive wins at Jundah and Blackall before filling the minors at Longreach last time.

He’s rock-hard fit and I’m interested to see what he does getting back to the mile.

XXXX Eagle Way (2000m) – 2:13pm AEDT

Tip: No. 1 Caboche

Caboche is seeking a hat-trick of wins when he steps out on Saturday, and I am confident that he can pull it off.

The Chris Waller-trained gelding destroyed his rivals in maiden company at Eagle Farm early last month, and he began his rise through the grades with another nice win on Mooloolaba Cup Day.

He’s rock-hard fit and getting out to 2000m looks ideal at this point of his prep.

Roku Gin Country Stampede Final (1110m) – 2:48pm AEDT

Tip: No. 2 Piracy

This looks the perfect target for Piracy.

He stamped himself as a galloper to follow while sporting the Godolphin silks earlier in his career, and while he did go off the boil somewhat in recent seasons, Tony & Maddysen Sears look to have found the key to him this time.

He has won each of his last two starts with something in hand and is drawn to receive every chance on Saturday under Ryan Maloney.

Winning Rupert Plate (1200m) – 3:28pm AEDT

Tip: No. 6 Wardaddy

A quality field of three-year-olds will contest this year’s Winning Rupert Plate, including Wardaddy.

Wardadday has made just three appearances at the races so far, and stamped himself as a galloper to follow with an easy win on debut at Taree in June, before immediately going to the paddock.

So far this time, he has only just missed in races at Port Macquarie and here at Doomben, and he’ll take further improvement into this contest.

He’s drawn to receive every chance and we can have an each-way play at around the $8.50 mark.

The Steven W. Sinclair Quality Handicap (2000m) – 4:08pm AEDT

Tip: No. 2 So You Win

This is one of the better races on the card, but I am going to have something on the third-up So You Win getting out to 2000m.

So You Win has returned plenty of good performances throughout his career, but the decision to training him largely in Queensland has certainly proven to be the correct one, and he’s picked off some nice races north of the border.

He’s had two starts in similar company two what his strikes this week since resuming this time, and I do believe that the rise in trip will be key in his return to winning form.

Listed Recognition Stakes (1350m) – 4:48pm AEDT

Tip: No. 2 Niccanova

This race was abandoned on the Gold Coast last week, but almost every galloper has re-accepted, and I am still confident in the chances of Niccanova.

He is unlucky not to have recorded a Group 1 victory during his career, and Niccanova has been one of Queensland’s better gallopers for a few seasons now.

He takes his place in this field second-up and following a competitive fresh effort for fourth in the Keith Noud Quality, and his record at this point of his preparation is excellent.

Listed Eureka Stud Classic Fillies & Mares (1200m) – 5:28pm AEDT

Tip: No. 3 Kisukano

This is another race pulled over from last weekend’s abandoned meeting and I’m also sticking with Kisukano at a price ($15 at publish).

She was the only horse to deliver Rothfire a defeat during his two-year-old season, and while Kisukano obviously hasn’t scaled the peaks of that rival, she has etched out a lovely record of her own.

She strips fitter for a fair first-up performance for third behind the likes of Kylease at Eagle Farm, and she has missed placing only once at this point of her preparation previously.

Group 3 George Moore Stakes (1200m) – 6:10pm AEDT

Tip: No. 9 Shooting For Gold

I’m taking on George Moore Stakes betting favourite Zoustyle, and I think that Shooting For Gold is the one to do the job for us.

Shooting For Gold has enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence since debuting in August last year, recording seven wins and three minors from his twelve career starts.

He steps out on Saturday following a credible first-up effort for third behind Zoustyle and I am confident that he can turn the tables.

Listed Mode Stakes (1200m) – 6:48pm AEDT

Tip: No. 3 Miss Hipstar

She clearly needed her first-up run on the Sunshine Coast to tune-up, but I am happy to stick with Miss Hipstar at a big price in the Mode Plate.

Miss Hipstar has returned the Kelly Schweida stable some terrific performances during her short racing career, and won the Listed Dalrello Stakes most notably in winter.

She harbours plenty of upset and can enjoy a nice run from a central draw this week.
