The Group 3 Launceston Cup headlines another exciting program in Tasmania on Wednesday, February 23rd.
The quality of racing in the Apple Isle has been outstanding in 2022, and another strong field of stayers has been taken for this week’s feature race, including Hobart Cup winner Ho Ho Khan.
Have I put him on top? Read on to my 2022 Launceston Cup Tips to find out!
Launceston Cup – Winner – No. 1 Ho Ho Khan
He was nothing short of dominant over most of these rivals, so of course I’ve had to put Ho Ho Khan on top of my 2022 Launceston Cup Tips.
The Mitch Freedman-trained galloper has found career best form this time in, and he filled the minors in the Wodonga Cup when resuming, before a luckless run behind Parry Sound in the Group 3 Summer Cup.
He bounced back with an impressive win over some handy gallopers at Caulfield, and his performance following a freshen up here last time was the best of his career.
Any improvement on that effort and he’ll be winning again.
Launceston Cup – 2nd – No. 8 The Risk Factor
There has been good early support in Launceston Cup betting for The Risk Factor, and for good reason.
The five-year-old son of The Factor has been a great horse throughout his career, but he is another who looks to have found his absolute best this time, winning three of his last five starts and only just missing on another occasion.
His performance and win over 2100m here earlier this month was simply outstanding, and while this is a rise in class, and repeat of that would see him into the finish.
Launceston Cup – 3rd – No. 9 Aurora’s Symphony
Symon Wilde’s horses are flying, and the Launceston Cup looks an ideal target for Aurora’s Symphony.
Aurora’s Symphony has been a consistent performer for the stable on the Country Cups circuit this time in, placing in both the Ararat Cup and the Woodford Cup, and winning the Colac Cup at his most recent appearance.
He will eat up the mile and a half, he gets into the race well under the conditions and is drawn to receive a lovely run under Harry Coffey.
Launceston Cup – 4th – No. 3 White Hawk
Hobart Cup placegetter White Hawk is rock-hard fit, and I can’t find a reason why he won’t return another competitive effort in the Launceston Cup.
The evergreen eight-year-old recorded consecutive wins in a couple of decent races prior to last week’s Group 3 feature, and he was excellent in that race as well.
This is his campaign Grand Final and as long as his form hasn’t tailed off, he’ll surely be in the finish.
