Randwick Tips, Best Bets and Race Previews – 29/9/2021

Randwick-Kensington will host Sydney’s midweek metropolitan meeting, and seven races are on the program.

The rail will be left in the True position around the entire course and at publish, we’re faced with a track rated in the Good (4) range.

Race 1 – 2:00pm – Justify @ Coolmore Australia Plate, (1400m)

California Surreal has improved for two starts back this time, and she can break her maiden at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday.

The I Am Invincible filly finished midfield in a similar race here when resuming last month, and she flashed late to only just miss at Gosford last time.

Fitter third-up and under James McDonald, this looks her opportunity to strike.

Race 2 – 2:35pm – Admire Mars At Arrowfield Handicap, (1250m)

Most of the horses engaged in the second at Randwick-Kensington are on debut and at publish, plenty of horses without race day experience are prominent in the market.

I am happy to stay out of this one.

Race 3 – 3:10pm – Benchmark 72 Handicap, (1300m)

This looks to be one of the more open contests of the day, and a horse like Rock My Wand has claims on winning at a lovely price ($15 at publish).

Rock My Wand his been freshened since her most recent effort for fifth in Saturday BM78 company at Kembla Grange, and there is no doubt that she will relish this drop in class.

Hugh Bowman rides from an inside draw and we can have an each-way play at the price.

Race 4 – 3:45pm – Heineken Handicap, (2400m)

Daysan is seeking a hat-trick of wins when he steps out at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday, and he looks well placed to pull it off.

The Kris Lees-trained import stripped fitter with a credible effort for fourth in Class 1 company at Scone in August and hasn’t looked back, winning each of his last two with something in hand.

This is another rise in class, but looks to be at peak fitness, and he does look the next logical step.

Race 5 – 4:20pm – Bowermans Commercial Furniture Handicap, (1400m)

Promise Of Success has opened a clear and justifiable favourite ahead of Race 5 at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday.

She hasn’t missed placing in four starts since arriving in Australia and takes winning form into this race, but she is too short for me at odds of $1.65, and I am happy to watch.

Race 6 – 4:55pm – Vinery Handicap, (1250m)

Torun looks well placed to strike in the penultimate race at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday.

The Medaglia D’oro entire has finished midfield in races at Wyong and here at Randwick-Kensington since resuming, but did muster an eye-catching turn of foot to finish just a length behind the winner last time.

Fitter third-up and getting slightly further out in trip, I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish.

Race 7 – 5:30pm – Buy @ Irish Sales Online Handicap, (1800m)

Kingsheir will relish a drop in class when he steps out in the last at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday, and I think he’ll take plenty of beating.

The Kingman gelding flashed home to record an impressive win in Saturday company when resuming, but he hasn’t been able to replicate that performance and result in either of his two subsequent appearances.

He has been charged with carrying topweight, but he is drawn ideally in barrier 3, and Glyn Schofield looks to have found a bit of form.
