Tattersall’s Tiara Tips, Bets and Race Preview – 2022

It’s the final Group 1 feature of the season and all eyes will be on the Tattersall’s Tiara at Eagle Farm on Saturday!

The Tatt’s Tiara generally represents one of the more open betting races of the Brisbane Winter Carnival and this year’s edition is certainly no exception, with $5 the field available at publish.

I’ve run the rule over every galloper, and you can find my 2022 Tattersall’s Tiara Tips below.

Tattersall’s Tiara – Winner

No. 16 Startantes

Startantes was my early pick for the Stradbroke Handicap and despite a less than perfect prep, I thought that she was quite impressive into fifth here a fortnight ago.

The Star Turn filly went within a whisker of Group 1 success when denied by Hinged in the Surround Stakes earlier this year and she has stripped fitter with each start during her winter prep.

She steps out this week in peak order, has drawn well under Jason Collett and gets into the race well as the Tattersall’s Tiara field in peak order and might not be offered a better opportunity to salute at the highest level.

Tattersall’s Tiara – 2nd

No. 1 Snapdancer

I absolutely would have had her on top if she hadn’t drawn the carpark, but I think that Snapdancer’s class will take her a long way towards winning the Tattersall’s Tiara.

The Choisir mare has been a great horse for the Maher & Eustace camp since debuting, but she really has gone to a new level this year.

Having won at the Magic Millions back in January, Snapdancer won the Triscay Stakes in early autumn and was last seen recording a dominant win in the Group 1 Robert Sangster in early May.

She has been freshened since that effort and if she does get the appropriate luck, she will take a power of beating.

Tattersall’s Tiara – 3rd

No. 10 Atishu

Atishu has filled the minors at each of her three starts back this time and is ready to peak when she takes her place in the Tattersall’s Tiara field.

The Savabeel mare has always hinted at top-line ability and has picked off some nice races since transferring to the care of Chris Waller.

She was just half a length behind the winner in the Magic Millions National race here on Oaks Day, she steps out this week in peak order at 1400m is her pet trip.

Tattersall’s Tiara – 4th

No. 2 Shout The Bar

This is something of a speculative selection, but we know how good Shout The Bar can be and she’s drawn to receive every chance in the Tattersall’s Tiara.

The two-time Group 1 winner won the Group 2 Sunline Stakes most notably in her autumn prep this year and has trialled well in the lead-up to her return.

Importantly, she is drawn to receive an ideal run in transit and is certainly up to the class.
